Loon Echo Land Trust was formed in 1987 to protect natural resources in the northern Sebago Lake region of Maine. Since this time, the organization has worked with its partners and supporters to preserve land for future generations through conservation easements, land purchases and land donations. As of 2012, Loon Echo Land Trust now protects nearly 4,000 acres of land and 22 miles of multi-use trails throughout the seven towns of Bridgton, Casco, Denmark, Naples, Harrison, Sebago and Raymond.

Bald Pate Mountain Preserve
Located in South Bridgton, the Bald Pate Mountain Preserve consists of 486 acres of forest, meadows, and granite-topped scenic vistas. The preserve was established in 1997 after a local grassroots effort led by Loon Echo generated support to protect the mountain from a proposed television tower. The 6.7 mile network of trails offers an array of opportunities and views.
Mayberry Hill Preserve
Located in Casco, Mayberry Hill Preserve is comprised of 160 acres of mixed woodlands, meadow and streams. Residents and tourists love the preserve for the leisurely hiking and educational opportunities.
Pleasant Mountain Preserve
Located in Bridgton and Denmark, Pleasant Mountain is the highest mountain in southern Maine and one of the defining landmarks of the Sebago Lake region. The mountain is a destination for hikers, birdwatchers, snowmobilers, hunters, and skiers. Loon Echo Land Trust has raised over $3.3 million since 2003 to protect 1,450 acres on the mountain. Through continued efforts, Loon Echo now owns 1,859 scenic acres and manages the 10 mile hiking trail system.
Pondicherry Park
Opened in 2007, Pondicherry Park gains increasingly popularity with residents and tourists. Located in the heart of Bridgton, a gorgeous 60 foot Dunning Memorial Bridge constructed in 2010 beacons visitors into the 66 acres of woodlands, streams and two miles of walking trails. Benches and kiosks adorn the park making it perfect spot for families and friends of all ages.
Sylvan Woods Preserve
Located in Harrison, Sylvan Woods Preserve is a 36 acre mixed forest community dominated by Eastern white pine. While there are no established trails or signs on the preserve, the land is open to the public for recreational and educational purposes.
Sebago Headwaters Preserve
Made of six different properties, this 385 acre preserve connects Loon Echo’s Bald Pate Mountain Preserve to its partner the Lakes Environmental Association’s Holt Pond Preserve in South Bridgton and Naples. The land protects the Muddy River, a large tributary to Sebago Lake, Portland’s drinking water source. Other uses such as hunting and snowmobiling on designated trails are allowed.
